This striking nature-inspired custom pool design by All Seasons Pools completely transforms this Clermont, Fla., backyard. Several tons of natural rock were meticulously stacked to create the gorgeous water wall and waterfall, which delight both the eyes and ears.

To highlight this pool’s natural shape, flagstone coping surrounds the entire outline of the pool. Stacked stone was incorporated to further enhance the sense that bathers were entering a secret rocky grotto rather than their own backyard.

When you’re finished splashing in the pool, you can ease yourself in the warm waters of the custom spa outfitted with an impressive rock spillway. For those not interested in turning up the heat, there is a relaxing sunshelf with sunken loungers at one far end of the pool.

The summery outdoor kitchen set adjacent to the pool is loaded with all of the appliances and accessories one would need to spend the whole day enjoying food and drinks by the pool. Featuring a U-shape layout with a bar, chefs can easily prepare and cook meals while carrying on conversations with friends and family.

What may be the two most stunning features of this aquatic escape is the one of a kind water bowls in the kitchen and the unique wood plank decking. Crafted from porcelain, this decking gives the appearance of being hardwood while being able to withstand stains and pool water.

During the summertime when your pool’s in high use, the amount of time you run your swimming pool filters and pumps should be increased. But how much time is the right amount of time when it comes cleaning a busy a pool and keeping it clean?

Why You Need Your Pump

Running your pump on a regular basis is just part of regular Orlando pool maintenance. The pump is the heart of your pool’s circulation system, clearing out debris and keeping the chemicals properly mixed so that the pool water remains sanitary. How often you run your swimming pool filters and pumps will depend on a variety of factors, such as:
  • The size of the pool
  • How often the pool is being used
  • How much debris your pool collects/if the pool is regularly covered

Calculating Your Pump’s Running Time

This calculation can be used as a general guide for determining how long you should run your pump for proper Orlando, St. Augustine, and Jacksonville pool maintenance

(Pool volume/filtration rate) x 2 = Hours necessary to run a filter

So let’s say you have a 20,000 gallon pool and a filtration rate of 3000 gallons per hour. Your equation would look like this:

(20,000/3000) x 2 = 13.333 or 13 hours and 20 minutes during a 24 hour period of time

Other Factors to Consider

Again, this equation is intended to give you a general idea of how to clean a pool and keep it clean during the summer months. The size and type of pump that you have can also play a large role in how long you run your pump (as well as your operating costs). Having a smaller, high-efficiency pump may allow you to run the pump for anywhere from a third to half the amount of time of that of a larger and older pump. Keep an eye on your water and remember to test it frequently to ensure that the water stays clean and healthy.

All across Orlando the warming weather signifies the end of winter and the beginning of the long Florida hot season. So now’s the right time to get your pool back in tip-top shape by performing a few swimming pool maintenance duties that will help keep your pool clean and healthy all season.

Remove the Pool Cover

If you have a pool cover, it might be tempting to lift it off and dive right in. But it’s essential to take proper care of the cover first. Before taking off your pool cover, remove any standing water (a wet/dry vacuum works well), and get rid of any leaves and other debris. Clean off the cover and allow it to fully dry before folding it up and storing it.

Check Your Water Levels

Even with a pool cover, it’s possible to have lost some water due to evaporation. Do a check and make sure that you have the proper water level in your pool.

Take Care of the Equipment

Inspect your pump and lubricate or replace any o-rings needing some extra attention. Now is also an excellent time to inspect your pool’s plumbing connections, and to visually inspect all of the other equipment:
  • The filter
  • The heater
  • Lights
  • Automation systems
Once visually inspected, power on the equipment and look for any drips or leaks. Continue to replace any o-rings as necessary.

Run Your Pump

Proper pool chemistry is essential in keeping your waters clean and pristine. Before leaping into your pool, an important part of swimming pool maintenance is running the pump for several hours to ensure that the pool chemicals are adequately circulated. These tips are a good start to making sure your pool is safe and ready for months of enjoyment.

Besides being just plain fun, it’s well known that swimming is a great way to stay in shape. It’s suitable for all ages and abilities and is a total body workout. Swimming improves both strength and flexibility with little to no impact on joints. Because of the many health benefits of swimming, it should be a part of everyone’s fitness routine.

Swimming is Good for the Heart

All exercise is good for the heart, but swimming provides high intensity with low impact. That means all the benefits of jogging without the pounding on knees and ankles. Swimming can lower blood pressure, help with cholesterol, and increase your metabolism – all things that are great for heart health!

Swimming Reduces Stress

Swimming helps you relax in many ways. First of all, simply being in the water can help daily stresses float away. Swimming also helps muscles to relax and can ease tension in the body. Stiff necks and tight shoulders will loosen up from just a short time in the water. On top of that, many people find the rhythmic movement of swimming to be a meditative experience.

Swimming is Good for the Lungs

Swimming is a terrific aerobic exercise. It increases lung capacity while training your body to use oxygen more efficiently. Breathe easier by making swimming part of your fitness routine.

Swimming is Good for Pain Relief

Buoyancy in the water means less pressure on bones and joints and swimming improves flexibility and strengthens the muscles that support them. Being in the water also reduces pressure on the spine and can help with lower back pain. For low-impact fitness with a high impact on pain relief, swimming is a great choice.

Get Healthy with an Orlando Swimming Pool

With all the incredible health benefits of swimming, getting a new backyard pool from All Seasons Pools is an investment in your family’s health and happiness for years to come. Contact us today to get started on planning the swimming pool that’s perfect for you.

If you’re considering new pool construction in Orlando, you need to be prepared to consider numerous variables and look at all the available options. Since adding a pool to your Central Florida area home is a large project, it is important to take your time making the final decision. A very big part of this decision will be reviewing quotes from different pool builders. To help you out, here are 7 things to look for in swimming pool quotes.

Overall Cost of a Swimming Pool

Look into both the initial cost of pool installation and the overall cost of maintaining a pool over the span of the pool’s life. While a lower-end quote might seem like a good deal, long-term maintenance costs can end up making it more expensive if it’s not well constructed.

Compare Swimming Pool Quotes

Compare the quotes you obtain and eliminate quotes that seem exceptionally high or low. After looking at several pool companies you should have a general understanding of the average costs associated with new pool installation. A quote that comes in extremely high or low could be an indicator that the contractor cannot be trusted.

Look for Other Pool Construction Costs

Find out if the quote includes the cost of insurance during installation. In most areas, the team hired to install your pool will need to be licensed and this may be reflected in your costs. If it is, ensure you are aware of this upfront.

Fully Understand the Pool Quote

Avoid pool contractors that are vague about any of the aspects of pool installation when providing you with a quote. Ask as many questions as you like and make sure that they understand what it is you are looking for.

Make Sure You’re Getting What You Want

Find out what features are included in the price quote that you receive. Some contractors may try to add on additional features that you are not really interested in. Stay focused on what you want, but pay attention to helpful advice and recommendations.

Get a Breakdown of the Pool Quote

Understand how they came up with their price quote. A trusted pool contractor should be able to breakdown their quote and help you understand how they arrived at their final figure. Their quote should include a list of expected costs for the pool materials, equipment, and labor costs.

Don’t Rely Solely on Price

Finally, carefully compare all your options before choosing the company that you want to install your new pool. Don’t simply choose a company based solely on the price tag. Look at all the advantages of each company; you may even get a company with a higher bid to price match a lower quote. Keep all these tips in mind when you start your search for the right Orlando pool contractor. Get a selection of swimming pool quotes and weigh the advantages and disadvantages of each prospective builder, along with the overall price that you are quoted. A great place to start your search is at All Seasons Pools. We can talk to you about every available option and give you a clear picture of the best swimming pool for your backyard. It’s that time of year again when the outdoor temperature will begin to swan dive right on down to freezing or below freezing levels. While it’s still certainly possible to keep your pool up and running during these colder months, extra care needs to be taken to prepare your pool both during and after a hard freeze to avoid costly damage to the pool and its components.

Follow Proper Pool Care Procedures

Are wintery conditions in the upcoming forecast? There are many things you can do to prepare your pool for the frigid temperatures ahead.
  • Make sure the water is balanced.
  • Check your skimmer and pump baskets. Clean them if necessary.
  • If the pool won’t be in use, remove all unnecessary equipment from the pool.
  • If snow is in the forecast, place a tarp over your equipment. It should be high enough for you to place a drop light beneath it (the light will add warmth), though be sure the drop light is placed far away from any plastic components, pipes, and combustible material.

For Pools That Are Still Running During a Freeze

Moving water can’t freeze, so the first step is to make sure your filtration and auxiliary pool pumps are running continuously. Many pumps have a built-in freeze guard that will automatically kick into action once the outside air reaches a certain temperature.   You can test your freeze guard by using plastic tongs to place an ice cube inside or next to its copper coil. If working correctly, the freeze guard should start your pool pump within 5 minutes. It’s important to remember that you don’t need to run your heater to prevent your pool water from freezing. In fact, running your heater in freezing conditions can cause substantial damage to the unit. If your pool has ice on its surface, break it up so that the skimmers and skimmer doors are kept clear. The skimmer doors can be removed if it’s not possible to keep ice out of the way.  Adjusting the jets in your pool upwards and using swimming pool antifreeze will also help put a stop to any surface freezing. Maintaining proper pool chemistry and water levels are crucial during the cooler months of the year. By keeping your water at the middle of the tile line, you’re preventing your pumps from drawing damaging cold air in through the skimmers. It’s also a good idea to cover your pool when it’s not in use. A sturdy pool cover will both keep debris out of your water and maintain a higher pool water temperature, reducing the risk of the water freezing.

For Pools That Aren’t Running or Lose Power During a Freeze

If you experience a loss of power, start off by turning off all circuit breakers leading to your pool equipment. Then head out to the pool and open up the filter air bleed valve (you can use warm water to dislodge any ice that may be in the way). Remove all drain plugs from the bottom of your pool pump and the drain filter, and take off all winterizing plugs/open drain valves to remove any excess water (you can place the plugs in the pump basket) and then loosely replace the lid. Adjust your valves to their middle positions as this will allow your pool water to flow back into the pool. If you have any pipes that can’t be drained, it’s a good idea to protect those pipes with electrical heat strips, which can be found at a local hardware store. Pools with electronic ignition heaters should be covered with a blanket for an added layer of insulation. When you cover your pool with a sturdy cover, it should be well protected from freezing.

What to Do When Warm Weather Returns

All of your efforts in maintaining your pool during cooler weather will certainly pay off when the warm weather returns! As you’ll find, well cared for pools during the winter require minimum effort when hotter days make their much-welcomed comeback. Start by removing dirt and debris from your pool cover and the surrounding area. Check your pool’s water levels and use your garden hose to top it off if necessary. Replace all plugs and lids, rebalance your water, run your pump for at least 24 hours and your pool should be ready to use and enjoy once more.

Having a pool footsteps from your back door is one of the best investments you can make in your family. From lifelong memories of splashing in the pool and teaching the kids to swim to promoting health and wellness, the benefits of having a backyard aquatic escape designed and built by All Seasons Pools are immense. Reaching out to your Orlando pool builder may not be something most think of when the cooler weather hits, but fall is the perfect time to build a custom pool. Here are a few reasons why:

1. The Best Pool Builders Are Available

Top-notch pool builders like All Seasons Pools in Orlando may be booked months in advance during the spring and summer months. But during the fall, pool builders tend to have greater availability due to the decrease in demand for new pool construction. Everybody wants a pool come spring. So build yours now and beat the crowd.

2. Have Your Pool and Outdoor Living Ready for the Warm Weather

Building your custom pool in the fall means it will be ready to go when the temperatures start to rise in the spring. Build your new custom pool now and look forward to a full spring and summer swim season.

3. Easier on the Finances

Again, the law of supply and demand holds true. Because the fall and winter months are slower for Orlando pool builders, you might be able to negotiate a better price on your pool. Building your pool during this time also means that you can split up construction projects, making it easier for you to budget your pool, pool decking, and outdoor kitchen. So if you know you want a pool, there’s no reason to wait until spring. By starting now, you’ll be enjoying your pool while others are waiting. Don’t look back and wish you had started sooner.
